Cascades, Continuous, Red Green, Aqueous (2026)

Description: Pinhole photography image transfer to board.

Details:

Pinhole photograph, 120 film. Inkjet image transfer via acrylic gel medium on gesso panel. Artwork 12 x 16 inches. Framed with glass.

Cascades, Continuous, Red Green, Aqueous originates from a single negative exposure recorded within an authored studio system. Using custom pinhole optics, the camera captured continuous light interacting with a white circular disc and a angled square against a dark field, recording subtle color crossover and atmospheric shift.

Rather than serving as a traditional photographic print, the exposure was executed as a single, standalone image transfer onto a gesso panel using water based pigment ink and gel media. Through paper reduction and manual washing, the paper backing was completely removed, embedding the thin ink and binder skin directly into the substrate ground.

The resulting surface retains the full edge profile of the original film format alongside the physical traces of the transfer process. Ambient room light passes through the semi transparent gel layer and reflects off the white gesso ground underneath, allowing the radiant crimson, soft amber, and cool emerald fields to function as an integrated physical object.
