Meet Hayata

I am Hayata Takeshita, a contemporary artist and photographer creating work that explores perception, balance, and visual tension.

My practice includes conceptual art, abstract painting, and fine art photography. A central part of that work is pinhole photography, which helps me transform familiar subjects through time, process, chance, and reconstruction.

In my series Looking Deeper: Emerging Concepts, I begin with recognizable visual references and move beyond them so that new meaning can emerge during creation. Recognition is only the starting point. From there, the journey begins and the work unfolds.

Across my conceptual work, paintings, and award winning landscape photography, I return to the same concerns: visual balance, concentrated areas of color, and the relationship between structure and feeling.

My background in technology also shapes how I work. I value experimentation, iteration, and careful construction, while leaving room for surprise and discovery.

I am based in New Jersey, USA, although I was in California for many years.
